About The Class
There are so many physical and energetic benefits to backbending or heart opening in a yoga practice. Our spine can move in 4 directions- lateral flexion, twisting, flexion and extension (which is known as Backbending in yoga) Most of us spend the majority of our time in flexion - rounded forward, because we are doing activities that require our bodies to take this shape such as sitting at the laptop, driving, feeding babies, working at desks or tables etc. A well balanced yoga practice will include all 4 spinal movements and should leave us feeling well stretched but also strong and mobile in our spines. Backbending doesn't have to be extreme or require a wide range of joint and musclar motion, in fact just placing your hands behind your back and raising your gaze can be enough. If you would like to learn more about your spine and how to incorporate backbends into your yoga practice then join me on Thursday the 21st of April at 7.30pm. This class is suitable for all Yogis including those who have recently started practicing and are curious to learn more to yoga practitioners who would like to progress their practice in a safe intelligent way.
At this workshop you will experience -
- Awareness of the spine and spinal movement
- The physical and emotional benefits of spinal movement
- The connection between the spine hips and shoulders
- How to stretch as well as strengthen in a safe intelligent way to give you the confidence to advance your backbend practice
Suitable for anyone who has basic yoga experience and wants to deepen and develop their practice
